Day 2

Good Morning Everyone!

So Day 2 is here and I am already slacking but not because I don't want to run, I woke up this morning completely unable to breath and a killer backpain.....not sure what all of that is about. But i am determined to not get off an hour a day of I am going to do some intense yoga and and ab work out later today.

Yesterday's walk/run was amazing.  I completed two miles and got to see parts of my site that I haven't been able to see before.  I like this time of year because everything is transforming from the brown desert landscape to the tropical one that I will get to enjoy for the next 6 months.  its seriously like someone have taken a remote and decided that the saturation needed to be turned up.  Its just so green..... I don't know if its like after the dead of winter finally thaws and you see tiny white flowers or if it really is this green here.  I ran past some beautiful pastures and fields.  I even had a companion for about 5 minutes of my run.  This tiny little dog followed me! I am hoping he will become a running partner!

Well that's it for me today...Yoga and abs in doors, but hopefully I will be out again before I know it!

Day One

I feel like I should preface this blog with the fact that I actually started it as another blog, one I did before ever getting into the Peace Corps. At that time it was suppose to offer a distraction, something to keep my mind off of  checking my email and my mail box every two seconds to see if they were going to actually accept me.  I should be frank here and say this distraction did not work.  what did work however was tv and junk food and wine! so now here I am serving in the Peace Corps and am being to find myself consumed with the fact that I am nowhere as busy as I thought I would be.  This is starting to become a struggle.  I adore my PC home, country, and for the most part primary job, but I am not finding myself as fulfilled at the end of each day as I had hoped.  Well I am lucky in a way because I am in one of the few Peace Corps countries that hosts a series of half and full marathons.  In fact a group of us are going to watch one this weekend (I am hoping this will only encourage me further to stick with it!).  My plan: half marathon by November.  Reasons to stick with it this time:
1.  I am not in shape- although I am finally becoming more comfortable in my own skin, I am starting to see the food down here is not agreeing with my physic (if you know what I mean).  Sure I could just go on a diet and change my eating habits, but I want to FEEL GOOD on the inside and look good on the outside.
2. There are about 6 of us trying to run this thing.....hopefully they will keep me accountable
3. I have no excuses to not go running everyday.  I wake up early ( so there is time in the morning) and am free pretty much every afternoon.
4. I found a good start off training schedule that consists of walking and running not just jumping in with both feet (which would hurt me!)
and lastly:
I need another challenge.  It seems that the last 2 years of my college career was faced with internships and papers and work and now that I have accomplished one of my life goals, now that I am literally breathing in the Peace Corps morning ,day, and night....I want to accomplish something else!

SO today is day one.  I have my shoes on and my watch on my we go!
